Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phatt Vanndoeurn is an eighteen year-old girl, who lives in Srabal Village, Phnom Penh Commune, Kulen District, Preah Vihear Province.

She has five siblings, two brothers and three sisters including her and she is the youngest child in the family. Moreover, she has only two hectare of land farm and her father, Phim Phatt, 47 and her mother, Kung Sam-Ot, 46, are farmers. Her parents earns only 50 dollars per month equal 64,000 thousand Riels (600 Dollars in a year) per day. Furthermore, her house is about 8 kilometers from school, so she spends thirty minutes to ride a bike from her house. Sometimes she has problem with her bike along the street, this the reason that she often comes late.

In the future, she wants to be a teacher because she wants to earn more to support her family to be better than today. In addition, in her community there aren’t enough educated people and she wants to help all of them to develop themselves.
