Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Ngoam Hoeurng is 19 years old. She is studying in grade 11th at The Naohiro Nishiya School, which is located in Opork Samky village, Meanreth commune, Sandan district, Kampong Thom province.

Hoeurng is the eldest child in her family and has three younger sisters. Her parents are farmers and they has own a piece of farmland that is approximately 60 meters in width and 100 meters in length and they use for growing rice, however the family has had trouble growing rice as the land is far from a water source.  As a result, the family can produce one tone of rice in per year, which is used to feed the family.  Hoeurng’s parents growing and sell the vegetables, get from $200-$250 in per year.  The profit from the vegetables is the main source of income for the family, which is not enough to provide adequate food, clothes and school supplies for the children.  As a result, Hoeurng regularly has absent form school as she goes to help the family grow their vegetables.

In the future she wants to be an agriculture skill because she wants to become a vegetable supplier in her village and can help her to earn more money for support her family.
