Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Chreun Chhuon is 18 years old, student in grade 12 at The Ascham Community School #281 in Pou Rang village, Senmonorom commune, O Reang district, Mondulkiri Province.

Chhuon has four siblings, three sisters and one brother and she is the first child in the ethnic family.

Chhuon is staying at the dormitory, a friendly student, always works and studies hard. She usually goes home on the weekend to help her parents work and take some food to eat during a study week. Chhuon’s family owns one hectare of farmland where they can produce about 200 kg of rice per year. Her parents also have other extra work by earning about $40 per month. All the income they can gain above they have to provide to Chhuon $10 per month to pay for school supplies and other need during her stay in dormitory. Her house is a small wooden house, located in Pou Krorm village, Semonorom commune, O Reang district, Mondulkiri Province.

In the future, she wants to be a secondary school teacher. She will help and share her knowledge to improve her communities living conditions through the education sector.
