Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhun Pisey is12 years old, and she is in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Pisey is the second child of the four siblings in the family. Her father’ name Mr. Chhan Ruos her mother’s name Mrs. Lor Sony, both of them are farmers. The family owns haft hectare of farmland; they can earn up to $300 a year in rice product. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, Pisey’s father commonly has to work out side. Her’ father has to work as a construction worker for others.  One day they can earn 30,000 riels. This means, that even with this additional income, the parents do not have enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. Pisey has often miss school to stay home taking care her siblings or help in the rice field and other housework.

She wants to be a nurse, she thinks that, she can cure all children and deliver the babies in her community.
