Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Theara is 15 years old, student in 8th grade at the Dahlia Sam School in Roung Mashin village, Tasal commune, O’ral district, Kampong Speu province.

Theara has a sister and two brothers. She is the first child in the family. She lives with her grandparents since she was 1 year old. Her grandparents are farmers who own 6,000 m2 hectare of farmland where they can produce rice a year. Her grandparent can gather 15 to 20 sacks. After cultivation, her grandmother plant some crops like cucumber and pumpkin for sell. Her grandfather is a construction worker sometime when there is a villager build a new house. Her grandparents can earn around 15,000 to 20,000 riels per day from those works to support the family

In her free time, Theara always help her grandparents to grow vegetables, takes care her siblings, and does housework, homework. During, school day, she is a noticed student because she always goes early to school and get good score in class. When she goes to school, she gets 500 to 1,000 riels.

In the future, Theara wants to be a doctor because she wants to cure people. She thinks that her career is the honor for her future and she can earn money to support family.
