Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Hai Sary is 12 years old, and she studies in 6th grade at The Chres School in Phum Chres Village, Boeng Sala khang Tbong Commune, Kampong Trach District, Kampot Province.

Sary is the first child in the family, and she didn’t have any siblings. Her father name is Sin Heng, 43 years old and her mother is Chhouv Chan, 40 years old. Her parents are farmers, but they divorced with each other since she was young and they have kept Sary to her aunt for take care unstill now.

Her family is poor and her aunt is also poor the same .Her aunt has owned half hectare of farmland for growing rice. The rice can produce 12 bags of rice in per year (1 bag of rice is equal 55kgs). After the rice’s field collection, her aunt sold out for 4 bags and got $70 to paid back to shop owner for the cost of fertilizers and the remaining money is paid for the food but it was not enough for daily expenses in a whole year. Therefore, besides the growing rice her aunt had to seek another job to work as make some baskets of bamboo at home and one day her aunt could make 2 baskets(1 basket equal 2$) in order to patch up on food. However that $4 was not the regular income for their daily food and other.

As for Sary, she is a smatter student in your class. She is a student that studies very hard and she is a good student at her school also. After school, she helps her aunt to do housework. In her free time, she likes to read the books and review the lessons from school.

For Sary’s future goal: Sary wants to be a teacher of English when she grows up, because she wants to help all the kids and all the people who wants to know in her village and around her work’s place. However, she also wants to earn money to support her whole family.
