Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Srey Nich is12 years old, and she is in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Nich has 3 siblings and she is the second in the family. Her father‘s name is Mr.  Tuon Thim and her mother name is Em Sok, both of them are farmers. The family owns one and haft hectare of farmland in which they can earn up to $400 a year in rice product. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, her father has to go on trips to find a labor work such as carrying the rice sack. One day he can earn 30,000 riels. Not all the above income enough to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. Therefore, instead of going school regularly she has to home to make daily meals and do other housework.

She wants to be a hairdresser; she likes this career and thinks that it can help her to make better income to support her family.
