Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Yat Sreyho is 10 years old and she is a student in 1st Grade at Prasat Primary School, located at Prasat village, Prasat commune, Prey Chhor district, Kompong Cham province.

Sreyho has three siblings. She is the first child in the family. Her father’s name is Yat Ye. He is a farmer. Her mother’s name is Khean Sengkhorn. She is a farmer too, but she has been a terrible sick of lung for many years until now. Her parents have no their own farm land. Her father can earn $120 per month to support the family. Now he is working at Rathanakiri. Her mother had worked as seasonal worker for other people in the village and sometimes worked in Ratanakiri with her husband too before she got ill. Her parent’s income doesn’t enough for support the whole family. Now she lives with her grandmother who always supports her and her siblings’ living with their study. After school she always help her grandmother to do house work and take care of her young sisters.

In the future, She want to be a Khmer teacher because she would like to share her knowledge and experience to the children in the village and teach them about Khmer history to next generation. Moreover, She wants to support her family to live in a better life.
