Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phalleang Sang-huot is 16 years old and she is in grade 10th at Kulen High School. She lives in Phnov Village, Phnom Penh Commune, Kulen District, Preah Vihear Province.

There are 6 members in her family, older brother in law and older sister, her daughter, her younger brother and two sisters including her. She is the second child in the family. Her father’s name is Da Phalleang, 45 years old and her mother’s name is Dy Savoeng, died of lightening on the farm in August 2017. So her father got married to the new wife. Her family has 1.5 hectares of farmland. They can produce at least 1 tons of rice​ in per year and can earn around 1,000,000 to 2, 000, 000 Riels. After finishing producing rice in dry season, her family goes bring cassava for others and get around 15000 Riels for one person in per day. Her life is difficult, she feel lonely because her fathers live with a new wife that has never worry about her and her siblings. Sanghuot is a good person, she has never make problem in the family and has a good relationship with other people around her.

Her house is 7 kilometers from school, so she has to ride a bike about 20 minutes every day under the sun. She has told that she wants to achieve her goal.

In the future, she wants to be a teacher because she wants to help her family and give good education to poor people in her village. Moreover, she wants to develop her village becomes better than today.
