Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sa Voeun Chantrea

Sa Voeun Chantrea was born on December 6th, 2003 in Morhor Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. She is a student in 8th grade at The Kozak Ohana School # 285 or Trapaing Arak Secondary School. It is located in Trapaing Arak Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province.

Chantrea is 15 years old and has two sisters and a mother.  Her father passed away. Her mother’s name is En Phet and she is a farmer, owning half a hectare of land, in which it can produce up to 400kg of rice/year.  This rice is to feed the family, and not to sell, so Chantrea’s mother works as a factory worker in Phnom Penh.  As Chantrea’s mother is not around to take care of her children, Chantrea and her sisters live with her grandmother.  As her grandmother is elderly, she needs help tending to the house, so Chantrea commonly misses school to help her grandmother.  However, she still enjoys school and works hard every time she attends class.

In the future she wants to become a doctor because She wants to cure all the people in her        location and she thinks that in her location is far from hospital.  Moreover she wants to earn the money to support her family.
