Norng Chot Vosan is a 2nd grade teacher at The Kazuko Nishie School.

He is 20 years old and has been teaching for two years.

In Their Own Words. . .

on why he became a teacher “I am Cambodian, and I want to help develop resources in my country.”

on his favorite subject to teach “I like to teach Khmer because I want the Cambodian people to know about Cambodian culture and the Khmer language. The students also enjoy Khmer language lessons.”

on keeping students interested “Sometimes it is difficult to keep the children interested and paying attention in class. At times, they like to play before class is finished, and I must make them wait. Because we lack toys, I ask them to draw pictures, or write stories, to have fun.”

on special activities “Occasionally, I will tell funny stories to help the children relax.”

on the new building “I am excited and very happy for the new school because the people in my village are poor, and the donor has given us a beautiful new building.”

message to Kazuko Nishie “Thank you for building us a new school with solar panels and a computer. We are all very happy and grateful for your assistance.”
