The World Mate School

Number Two

Rom Dams nine years old and in first grade at the school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new school:  “I am happy with the new school building because I can learn in a nice concrete building now.”

On school subjects: “I like to learn Khmer because I want to know how to read.  I don’t like social science because it is difficult to read.”

On her hobbies: “When I have free time, I like to help my parents.  I also like to go with my friends and buy cakes.”

On her family: “I have four brothers and two sisters.  My oldest brother stopped studying a long time ago to become a monk.  My second oldest brother stopped studying after third grade because it was difficult for him to get to school.  My older sister is studying in sixth grade at another school.  My other older sister is in fourth grade here.  My younger brother never went to school because my father needs him to take care of our water buffalo.  My youngest brother is eight and in first grade at the school here.  My father is a nurse and my mother is a housewife.”

On her future: “I want to work in the rice fields in the future because I want to get more rice.”

Message for the donor: “I would like to thank Mr. Toshu Fukami very much.”
