In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building:  “ I like the new building because it is nice and cool and it is very large. The old building was old, and very dark inside so it was hard to study.”

On school subjects:  “ I like to school with my siblings because my parents want us to learn how to read and write Khmer. My favorite classes are mathematics, Khmer, and applied science. I like them because they are easy to learn. Social science is difficult, and I don’t understand the teacher when she explains it.”

On her hobbies: “ I like to help my parents do housework, cook and wash our clothes. I like reading books and talking with my friends.”

On her future: “ I plan to graduate from primary school, and I want to graduate from secondary and high school if my parents can afford it. My parents want me to finish, as well. I would like to go to Phnom Penh to be a garment factory worker. Otherwise, when I  grow up I would like to be a teacher. I would like to teach Khmer to the children in this village.”
