The Cambodia Rural School Project

The Sharing Foundation School

Chy Yet is a fourth grade student at the Sharing Foundation School. Out of the
seventy-four students in her class, she was ranked fourth.

On herself: I am fifteen years old. I have six xiblings; two of them go to this school. My parents are rice farmers. Our house is 700 meters from the school. It takes me about ten minutes to walk.

On the new building: I am very happy with the new school, because it is near to my house. Before, I went to another school three kilometers away, because the school that used to be here was not open when I started school.

Favorite subject: I like Khmer the most. My favorite story from class is called “The Man Who Takes Care of the Cow.” It’s a story about a cow that goes into the deep jungle. A Tiger tries to catch it. Cow dies. What about the man who watches the cow?

There is no man.

But why is the story called “The Man Who Takes Care of the Cow” then?

I don’t know.

On her spare time: I read my books and do my homework. I also like to draw pictures.

In the future: I would like to become a nurse/doctor. It’s her duty to help the villagers who are sick.
