Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chea Sreyneth

Chea Sreyneth is 15 years old and is a student in grade 7 at The Ang Daun Pis Village Learning Center #550, located in Korng Pisey District, Kampong Speu province, donated by the students of the Australian International School Singapore.

There are six members in the family. Sreyneth has one brother, two sisters, and she is the youngest child in the family. Her father’s name is Ok Chanra, 42 years old. He is a farmer. Her mother’s name is Svay Thady, 38 years old. She is a factory worker, earning $190 per month working in a factory. Sreyneth’s father is staying home and looking after his children. The family is poor and owns a half hectare of farmland for growing rice which can produce about 1 ton of rice per year that can feed the family. Sreyneth does not have enough money to buy school supplies for her studies. However, that does not stop her from coming to school and working her hardest.

Sreyneth wants to be a teacher because she wants to share knowledge and education with the students in her community as well as be able to help financially support her family.
