Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Sreyleak is a 15 years old student in 8th grade at The Nozomi School # 348 donated by David Sneider and Naomi Pollock Family. Located: Khchass Village, Khchass Commune, Saut Nikum District, and Siem Reap Province.

Her father’s name is Soun Thoul He’s 40 years old and he’s a farmer. Her mother’s name is Ream Sary. She’s 41 years old and she’s a farmer too. Sreyleak is the second child in the family, with two younger brothers and one older sister. Her family has no land and her village has no land for rent so her father has to go to work in the city as the builder and he got $3 per day to support the family. Sometimes her parents asked her to stop her study but she loves to study so she comes to school every day without money.

Sreyleak is a good and smart student. After school, she goes home to help her parents with house work. In her free time, she likes to read books and review the lessons from school and help the mother to cook and look after her brothers.

Sreyleak wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She wants to help all the poor kids and the most she wants to earn money to support her family to be better in the future.
