Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chern Reaksa

Chern Reaksa is an 8 years old girl who studies in grade 3 at The Vasaskolan School in Angbaksey village, Cheang Toung commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province.

She has one brother and one sister. She is the second child in the family. She lives with her grandparents. Her mother committed suicide when she was 7 months and her father married to step wife. There are 9 members, in her family, grandfather, grandmother, one uncle, three aunts, one brother and one sister. They own 20A of land which produces 400 kg of rice per year. Her grandparents are old. Her grandfather couldn’t work. Her grandmother sells the water convolvulus to earn 5000 riel or $1.25 per day. Reaksa helps her grandparents to feed animals and cook. In the future, she wants to be a teacher.
