Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhorn Pheakkdey is 18 years old girl who was born on March 4th, 2000 in Srabal Village, Phnom Penh Commune, Kulen District, Preah Vihear Province.

There are 9 members in her family, parents, two brothers and six sisters including her. She is a fifth child in the family and her daily life is so hard. Her parents are farmers but now they are getting old so their 3 daughters help to them to do the farmland and they have only 1 hectare of land farm for growing rice. They can produce the rice for 1500kg in per year and they are selling 500kg, gets $125.00 and they keep 1000kg of rice for daily eating in the whole year.  Her one brother went to work as a construction worker and get 6$ in per day at the bother of Thailand, He always send the money for amount 50$ to his parents to support the whole family. Her one sister stays at home with their parents because they are so young.

Chhorn Pheakkdey goes to school without money in her pocket and sometimes she gets 2000 Riels. When she has free time in the weekend she go to work part-time as a cloth seller at market to earn more money to support her studying. Furthermore, her brother is in the same class with her and he lives in Pagoda.
