Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Pheach is 17 years old and she is in grade 8 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

She is the seventh child in the family and she has seven siblings. Her father’ name Mr. Bul Teth and her mother’ name Mrs. Tuy Ley. Her parents do farming and also raise two cows. The family owns one hectare of farmland, in which they can earn up to $350 a year in rice product. As this is not enough money to support the family’s needs, her father has to go on trips to be a construction worker, one day he can earn 30,000 riels. They also do not have enough money to buy good foods to eat, Pheach sometime was absent from school to help her parents in the rice fields and help on housework.  In despite of being poor, she still has a dream to graduate from university.

Pheach wanted to become a doctor in her future; she wants to cure the people in her commune, because nowadays the hospital is far from her area.  Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
