Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Heng Chanty is14 years old, and she is in grade 7 at #347 The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Banteay Meas District, Kampot province.

Chanty has 3 siblings, and she is the third child in the family. Her father’s name Mr. Heng Heang mother’s name Mrs. Pa Rim, both of them are construction workers. The family has no land for farming. Chanty parents have to work as construction work every day. One day they can earn 15000 Riels. This means, that even with this additional income, the parents do not have enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. As a result, Chanty commonly has to miss school to stay home and help to care for her siblings or help in cooking and other housework.

Chanty’s goal wants to be a teacher. She thinks that she could teach all the students in her area. She likes to help all poor people. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
