Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Him Sreykorb is 14 years old, and in grade 8 at The Savant School in Taney village, Choam Sangkea commune, Phnom Sruoch district, Kompong Speu province.

Sreykorb is the eldest child in the family, with two younger brothers.  She lives with her father and brothers because her mother lives and works in Phnom Penh. Her brothers are in grade two and six. Her father works as a mango picker, earning 30,000 Riel per day. Her mother earns $200 a month working in a factory and visits her family twice a month.  Sreykorb is a good student and always works hard in class, and when she is home, she continues her hard work, helping her father around the house.

In the future, Sreykorb wants to be a teacher so she can help support her family, and provide a better life for them.  Additionally, she wants to teach the kids in her village and show them how to lead a good life.
