Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Srey Leak is 13years old, and she studies in grade 7th at The Tmor  Berk  School #351, located in Kampong Trach District, Kampot province, donated by Clarie Frankel.

 Srey Leak live in Koh Chormka Village, Beong Sala Khang Tbong Commune, Kampong Trach District ,Kampot Province. There are four members in her family; she is the oldest sister in the family, with 1 brother. Her father’s name is Jun Tith 36 years old and her mother is Sorng Savy 35 years old and they are farmers. Her family is poor and owned half hectare of farmland for growing rice. The rice can produce 10bags of rice in per year (1 bag of rice is equal 120kg). After the rice’s yield collection her parents sold out for 5bags and got $100 to paid back to shop owner for the cost of fertilizers and the remaining money is paid for the food but it was not enough for daily expenses in a whole year. After finish the rice season her father goes to work as a cement picker and get 3.5$ in a day to support for daily food but it still not enough to support for family living.

Srey Leak is study very hard and she is a good student in the class. After school, she helps her parents to do housework. In her free time, she likes to read the books and help her mother to cook the food. Srey Leak wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She wants to cure a looking after the old peoples in her village and also she wants to earn money to support her family.
