Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Keng Malaykhea is a twelve-year-old student in the fifth grade at Wat Thmey primary school, located in Tropeng Tasok village, Trean commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham Province.

Malaykhea has three siblings, a brother and two sisters. She is the first child in the family. Her parents are farmers who own one hectare of farmland to grow rice, producing 500kg per year. This is not enough rice to sell, so her parents also work as seasonal workers, earning 30,000 Riels a day.   When Malaykhea has free time, she helps with housework, does her homework and enjoys reading.

In the future, she wants to be a teacher because she wants to share her knowledge and teach the children in her commune. Most importantly, she would like to be able to support her family
