Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Sivying is 12 years old, and she is in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Sivying has 2 siblings and she is the first in the family. Her father‘s name is Mr.  Khem Che and her mother name is Sok Sros, both of them are farmers. The family owns one hectare of farmland, in which they can earn up to $300 a year in rice product. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, her father has to plant more vegetables to sell at market. One day they can earn $6. Not even the above income enough to support the family and their children’s daily needs. Therefore, she has to miss school to help taking care her siblings or help in the rice field and other housework.

Sivying wants to be a doctor. She wants to cure all the people in her location; she thinks that in her location is far from hospital. She wants to save people lives. Most importantly, she would like to support her family and give them an opportunity to live a better life.
