Khon Thy is 12 years old and was born in Choum Svay village, Meanrith commune, Sandann district and Kampong Thom province. She is in grade 7th at The Naohiro Nishiya School, which is located in Opork Samky village, Meanrith commune, Sandann district, Kampong Thom province.

There are 5 members in her family, her parents, one brother and three sisters. She is the eldest child in the family.  Her father’s name is Mr. Vann Theang and her mother’s name is Mrs. Thong Chin, both of them are farmers.  The family has owns farmland for one hectare, in which they can earn up to $300 a year in rice production. Thy’s father commonly has to go on trips far away from their village to collect resin from trees. 1kg of resin can be sold at 5000 riel, or $1.25, Even with this additional income, the parents do not have enough money to support the family daily expense and their children’s everyday needs.  As a result, Thy commonly has to miss school to stay home and help care for her siblings, or help in the rice field and other household chores.

When she grows up she wants to become a Junior Credit Officer because she wants to work in the bank and have an occasion to get some work experiences, Moreover she wants to save some money to help support the family to live in a better life.
