Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Putha is13 years old, and she is in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Putha has 5 siblings, and she is the third child in the family. Her father’ name Mr. Lek Seang her mother’s name Mrs. Teal Phey, both of them are farmers. The family owns one and haft hectare of farmland; they can earn up $400 a year in rice product.

The income from rice product is not enough to support the whole family throughout a year. Her father has to find extra labor works such as carrying rice sacks to get 30,000 riels per day.  For herself, Putha always miss school to stay home and help to cook for her sibling.

She wants to be a nurse, she will have more opportunity to cure children, deliver the babies in her community. She thinks that it is very important for people in her area.
