Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ly Sreyneang is 11 years old, a student in 4th grade at The Ascham School community, in Poutaing village, Romney commune, Senmonorom district, Mondulkiri province.

Ly Sreyneang is the third child in the family, with four sisters, no brother. She lives with her parents and sisters and one older sister study at Senmonorom town far away. Her father works as a construction worker, earning 30,000 Riel per day. Her mother work at farm picks up vegetables, earning 10,000 Riel per day but not for everyday. Ly Sreyneang is a good student and always works hard in class, and when she is home, she continues her hard work, helping her parents around the house.

In the future, Sreyneang wants to be a seller. She wants to earn more money to help support her family, and provide a better life for them. Additionally, she wants to teach the kids in her village and show them how to lead a good life.
