Cheoun Saophon is 13 years old and she is a student in grade 7 at the Pluk secondary School in in Kat pluk village, Prekel commune, Kongpong Speu Province.
There are three members in her family, parents and one sister. She is the first child. Father’s name is Chan Thouen and he is 44 years old. Her mother’s name is Meas Saophea and she is 41 years old. Her mother is the factory worker so in a month her sent money to her daughter 150,000៛ and the father is Labor but can’t do every day. Her family is so poor her father is going to hired laborer can receive wage 15,000 riels per day, he is growing a few vegetables more for family. Every day, their families are very hard of living by they are trying to earn money for supported their children. For rice production per year there is not enough food and money . They would like to express gratitude to the organization and sponsors of the scholarship of her daughter, even though it is not sufficiently supportive of the family’s needs, but also reduces her family’s expenses. Saophon promised to come to school regularly and the money that she received from her donor will keep for buying the school supplies.
Cheoun Saophon is a good student in class and sometime, she explain the lesson to her classmates when they are not understand and after school she always help her mother to do housework and look after her brothers.
In the future, Saophon wants to be a mathematics teacher in her village because she thinks that the teachers have been able to support a lot of social work, especially human resources training and she would like to support her family to live in a better life.
