Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Nan Sinoun

Nan Sinoun is 14 years old. She’s in grade 7 of CREDO school. Now she’s in Chintay village, Metoek commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

Sinoun has two siblings and she is the second child in the family. She lives with her grandparents because of her parents had been divorced with each other and go far away from her and her siblings. Both of her grandparents always get sick so often. So they are very difficult to earn money to support the family. Sometimes her father sends her a little money but not often. So she’s very difficult and needs more money for living and studying. She gets only 1000 riels per day for going to school. After she leaves the school, she always cooks, clean the house, wash the dish, clothes and feed the cows. She goes to school by her cousin’s motorbike and sometimes with her classmates.

In her free time, she always done on her homework, read the books, chops the woods and helps her grandparents farming work.

In the future, she wants to be a Khmer teacher, because she loves Khmer language and wants to help all people to educate together. Moreover, she would like to help her grandparents to live in a better life.
