Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Nat Sey Ney is 16 year old and she is a student in the 9th grade at The Kozak Ohana School #285 in Mohor Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province.

Srey Ney has four siblings, two sisters, two brothers and she is the second child in her family. Srey Na and her younger siblings live with her grandmother, while her mother works at a guest house in Phnom Penh and her father and eldest brother are the construction workers in Takeo Province. Her mother sends approximately $30 every month back to the family, and her father and brother send approximately $40 a month.  Fortunately, Srey Na’s parents and brother are able to visit their family 3-4 times a month, so the family is not separated for too long.  While her parents and brother are away from the home however, she is responsible for caring for her younger siblings and elderly grandmother, which causes her to often miss school.  However, she never stops trying her hardest in school and she hopes to become a primary school teacher in the future.
