Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Pha Sophun is a 12-year-old student in the 5th grade at the Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Baribour district, Kampong Chhnang province.

Pha Sophun has two brothers and two sisters and she is the second child in the family. Her father, Phan Sophal, and her mother, Luch Nei, are both farmers.  The family owns one hectare of farmland, in which they produce one ton of rice per year. The family sells half of the rice they earn to support their family and they keep for some rice for daily eating in a whole year.  However, this is not enough to cover the families daily needs.  To help support the family, they sell vegetables at the local market, earning 2,000 riels a day.
