Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ny Sok Neng

Ny Sok Neng was born on November 3rd 2004 in Trapaing Arak Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. She is a student in 8th grade at The Kozak Ohana School # 285 or Trapaing Arak Secondary School. It is located in Trapaing Arak Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province.

Sok Neng is 14 year old and she has no brothers and sisters. When Sok Neg was little, her father passed away and her mother remarried. Her mother moved in with her new husband, and now never comes to visit her daughter.  Sok Neng now lives with her grandparents, aunt and uncle.  They are all very poor and live in poverty.  Her family does not own any farmland, so they pick rice from abandoned fields.  They can harvest approximately 60kg a year of rice, which is not enough to support the family.  Sok Neng’s grandparents are both too old to work, so her aunt and uncle support the family.  Her uncle works in construction, and her aunt is a service farmer in the village.  They each earn $2-5 a day.
