Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Samsan Chansokhavtey is 14 year old and in grade 9 at The Pras Chisovan high school in Kraul Chi Village, Popel Commune, Boribo District, Kompong Chhnang Province.

In her family, there are seven members, her parents, one brother and four sisters, she is the third child. Her father’s name is Suo Chann and he is 60 years old and her mother’s name is Phai Sochea and she is 45 years old. Both of them are farmers. Chansokhavtey’s family have owns one hectare of farmland for growing rice and they are able to collect 50 bags per year and they are keeping for daily eating in a whole year. After finish from rice season, her family planting to growing vegetable and they can earn 150,000 per month from vegetables. Even they get the income from vegetable but it still not enough to cover their expense and nowadays they are living in a poor family with bad situation.

In her free time, Chansokhavtey always help her mother to do housework and she always review the lesson.

In the future, she wants to be a teacher so she can help support her family and provide a better life for them. Additionally, she wants to teach the kids in her village and show them how to lead a good life in the society.
