Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Seang Sreynich

Seang Sreynich is a 10 years old girl in 4th grade at Vasaskolan School in Angbaksey village, Cheang Torng commune, Tramkak district Takeo province.

There are six members in her family. She has one brother and two sisters. She is the second child in the family. Her parents are farmers. They have their own farmland for growing rice, which can produce 700 kg of rice a year.   Besides working in the field her mother works as a day laborer. She is also sometimes hired to harvest rice; with these extra jobs she can earn $5 per day. Her father always goes to catch fish, which they use to cook for their daily meal.

As the family has a shortage of money and time, Sreynich cannot go to school regularly. She has to help the family earn money for their daily needs. Also, Sreynich has to look after her younger siblings and do housework after class.
