Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sreipenh is 14 years old student in Grade 8 at the Romdos Sre’s School in Romdos Sre commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.

Sreipenh has one brother and four sisters and she is the fourth child in the family. Her father passed away two years ago and her mother and is Yun, She is a farmer. Her mother has owns farmland that is used to grow rice. They are able to produce approximately 800kg of rice in year and sold for 500kg, get 125$ for support of daily foods and keep some rice for daily eating.  This small amount of rice is not be able to feed the entire family for long time, so Sreipenh’s mother goes to works a construction worker as well, in efforts to support the family, earning $5 a day. While her mother is busy at work, Sreipenh is responsible to help in the rice field among various house chores everyday.

In the future, She wants to be a teacher because she wants to teach the students in her village to get a job as her.
