Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sina is 16 years old and studies in the 7th grade at The Svay Chek Secondary School, located in Anlong Spean village, Svay Chek Commune, Romdoul District, Svay Rieng province.

Sina has 3 siblings and she is the first in the family. Her father‘s name: Mr. Seng Bora and her mother’s name: Puth Khmao, both of them are farmers. The family owns one hectare of farmland in which they can earn up to $300 a year in rice product. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, Sina’s father has to find on a labor job such as carry the sack of cement to the vender shop to get earn $5 a day. Even with this additional income, it is still not enough money to support the family and their children’s study needs. Sina commonly has to come late and sometimes miss to school, because of busy work at home in taking care her siblings and help in the rice field.

Sina wants to be a doctor to cure all the people in her area and communities; she knew that in her location is far from hospital.
