Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Dalen is 15 years old, and she is in grade 8 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

There are eight members in the family, her parents and siblings. Her father’ name Mr. Sean Sat and her mother’ name Mrs. Muon Sinat, they are both famers. The family owns haft hectare of farmland, they can earn up $300 a year in rice product, which produces about 500 Kg of rice per year. However, they had to sell out the rice to pay back all the debt that they had owed during the farming process. For additional income, her father has to go on trips to work as a construction worker.  One day he can earn $6. They do not have enough money to support the family and their children’s daily needs. Dalen had to help her family with all the work at her house. She is a good student and always works hard in class, and when she is home, she continues her hard work, helping her parents around the house.

She wants to be a teacher, she wants teach all students in her rural area.  She likes to share her knowledge to all kids. Most importantly, she wanted to support her family and give them an opportunity to live with a better life.
