Som Art Vanna is a nine-year-old student in the fourth grade at Wat Thmey primary school located in Tropeng Tasok village, Trean commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province.
Vanna has three siblings; two brothers and one sister. She is the third child in the family. Her parents are farmers but cannot earn enough to support the family. The family is able to collect 2 tons of rice per year, which is just enough to provide the family with food for a whole year, but not enough to sell.
In the future, she wants to be a doctor, so she can help support her family and help her ill brother.
