Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Bona is 14 years old, and she is in grade 8 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Bona is the first child in the family and she has two siblings.Her fathers’ name Mr. Sorn Thom and her mother’ name Mrs. Kem Hor. Her parents do not do farming, but her father works as a construction worker at Phnom Penh, he can earn 30,000 riels a day and visit home once a year. Her mother also harvests rice for the neighbor’s farm; she can earn 15,000 riels a day. With this additional income are not enough money to support the family and their children’s daily needs. Bona commonly has to miss school to stay home and help taking care her siblings or help other housework.

Bona wants to be a police, she wants to take care her people in area, most importantly, she wanted to support her family and give them an opportunity to live with a better life.
