Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Sorn Sokchea is 17 year old and she is a student in grade 10 at The Boribo high school in Porpel Village, Khonrong Commune, Boribo District, Kompong Chhnang Province.

There are four members in her family, her parents and 2 sisters including her. She is the second child in her family. Her father’s name is Khuon Phea and he is 42 years old, her mother’s name is Neom Sareun and she is 56 years old but she was died since she was young.

Her father is a farmer and he has owns one hectare of farmland for growing rice and they are able to collect 30 bags per year and they are keeping for daily eating in a whole year. Her one daughter goes to work as a factory worker and she earned 200$ in a month and send 50$ every month to her father to pay for every food but it still not enough to cover for all daily expense in the family.

In the future, she wants to become a Khmer teacher because she wants to share her knowledge and teach the children in her commune about Khmer literacy and Khmer histories. Most importantly, she would like to be able to support her family and give them an opportunity to live with a better life.
