Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Bopha is 15 years old and she is in grade 9 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Bopha was born in a poor family with 6 siblings and she is the youngest child in the family. Her father’ name Mr. Tes Dean and her mother’ name Mrs. Huon Each Her parents are farmer who own about a hectare of farmland and two cows for doing rice farm. Their farmland is in rain-fed area, so the production is low.  Bopha’s father sometime plants vegetables more to sell in their commune. One day they can earn 25,000 riels. Even with additional incomes are not enough to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. Bopha has to help her parents in rice field and work in neighbors’ rice field during harvest season to earn more money instead of coming school.

Bopha’ wants to be a teacher; she wants to teach students in her local area. She likes sharing ideas to others. Also, she wants to bring her family to live with comfortable life.
