Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Thol Engcy was born on February 01, 2001, in Prey Mol village, Cham Pei Commune, Baty District, Takeo province. She is in the 8th grade at Trakiet Secondary school (The Rita Hochhauser School).

Thol Engcy has 3 siblings, 1 brother and 2 sisters including her, she is the first child in family. Her brother and sisters are studying at the same school. Her father’s name is Mr. Thol Sot, 49 years old and her mother’s name is Ghhunon Sokly, 46 years old, both of them are farmers. They have one hectare of farmland where they can earn up to $200 a year from rice products. Out of growing rice, her father takes his free times to run a moto-taxi to get more income, in a day he can earn about 30,000 riels. Her mother is a housewife, she stays home and takes care her children and does a lot of housework. The total income in year are not enough to support her family’s daily needs.

Thol Engcy wants to be an English teacher in her village because she hopes that job could be affords more income to support my family.
