Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Uon Sros is 14 years old; she is in grade 7 at The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

Sros has four siblings, and she is the youngest child in the family. Her father’s name is Mr. Uon Chan and her mother’s name Mrs. Sam Chhem, both of them are farmers. The family owns one hectare of farmland; they can earn up to $300 a year of rice product.

The above income is not enough to support the family’s needs; Sras’s father has to find extra labor work as rock breaking worker and one day he can earn 30,000 riels. Even they try to work very hard still cannot support their family better life condition. She is always miss school to help taking care her siblings or help her parents in the rice field and other housework.

She wants to be a teacher in her community. She wants to teach all kids in her village. In addition, she wants to build girls by teaching them to be strong and Ambition.
