Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Vath Chanra is a 14-year-old student in the 6th grade at the Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Baribour district, Kampong Chhnang province .

Chanra has twelve members in her family and is the fourth child in her family. Her father’s name is Much Vanna and her mother name is Lung Chanthoeurn . The bother of them are farmers.  Chanra’s family has owns half hectare of farmland for growing rice, producing 180 kg of rice, earning 150,000 riel a year and they are keeping some rice for daily eating in a whole year.  For additional income, her family sells vegetables along the river, earning 2,000 riels a day.  However, this income is not enough to support the families daily needs.

Chanra is good student and daughter. She works hard in class, and when she is not studying, she is helping her mother with housework.

In the future she wants to become a Khmer teacher.  She wants to share her knowledge and teach the children in her commune. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
