Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yen Sreylen

Yen Sreylen is a 15-year-old student in grade at Grace, Hope, Beloved school,  located in Boeng Veng, Tang Krsasang Commune, Batheay district, and Kampong Cham Province.

Sreylen was born in Phnom Vihear, Tang Krasang Commune, Batheay district, and Kampong Cham Province. There are five members in her family, two brothers, three sisters. She is the fifth daughter in her family, her parents were passed away. Sreylen has lived with her third older sister. Her house is located far from the school at about 1.7 k.m. They have only about 0.1 hectare to build a house and they do not own any farmland to grow rice.  Her old sister told that her husband works at a factory at Skun district that can earn $170 a month to supports such as food, rice, medicine. She has been sick and stays at the house.  Her husband’s salary from earns so hard to supports as a family’s needs such as food, rice, and medicine. However, it was not enough for supports members in a family. Other Sreylen’s siblings only gave food, some money to support for Sreylen’s studying.

Sreylen is a good student and sister. She works hard in a class, and when she is not studying, she is helping her sister’s cooking and take care of her sister got sick.

For Yen Sreylen’s future goal, she has a dream that she wants to be a teacher at Boeng Veng primary school, and have own business like a makeup to earn a lot of money to support her family; because she saw, her parents have not money to pay for the medicine. They got thin and thin until passing away, she wants to build a lovely house for her family.
