Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ynn Sina

Ynn Sina is a 13-year-old student in 6th grade at Grance, Hope, Beloved school, which is located in Broeng Veng village, Tangkrasang commune, Batheay district, and Kampong Cham province.

Sina has gotten three siblings including her and she is the second child in a poor family. Her older sister was married two years ago and nowadays she has been living with her husband’s family. Her parents are farmers. They have 10A = 1,000 square meters of farmland to grow rice and the kind of rice’s seeds they produce is about 3 months’ growing up for the harvest. They grow the rice twice a year but only in the rainy season. The yield of rice that they have collected yearly was about 1, 100kg to cover only 6 months’ daily consumptions.

After 6 months’ running out of the rice so her mother goes to fields to find some work from other neighbors in order to get some benefit to patch up the family’s needs.  And her father goes to work as the construction worker in order to get $4.5 in a day to support her family. Sina said that she does not have money to buy uniform to wear to her school because of the family’s lack. Sometimes, her cousins buy the cloths and uniform for her.

For her future goal; Sina wants to be a teacher of primary school in her village. Because she really wants to give education to the kids in her village and she can save her salary to buy a land for growing rice as well.
