Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yorn Vannuo is a 13-year old student in the 6th grade at the Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Baribour district, Kampong Chhnang province.

Yorn Vannuo has two brothers and is the third child in the family. Her father, Kruoch Vechet, and her mother, Pan Channa, are both farmers.  The family owns one hectare of farmland, but they only grow enough rice to support the family, and not enough to sell.  The family grows a small amount of vegetables to sell at the local market, earning 5,000 to 10,000 riels a day.

Vannuo is a good girl, she listens to her mother and helps with house work when she is needed.  At school, she helps water the flowers and vegetabes.

Vannuo goes to school by bycicle because her house is far from school and afer school she always help her mother to do house work.

In the future, Vannuo wants to be a soldier because she wants to defend her country and she wants to help her family to live in a better life.
