In Their Own Words. . .
On the new building: | “I like this new school building very much because it is new and has many pictures to decorate the walls. My brother and I like to go to school because we want to gain knowledge. The school building looks nice and many of my friends go here, too. I didn’t like the old building because it was old and hard to study in.”
On school subjects: | “I like learning Khmer and mathematics because they are easy to understand. I do not like social science or applied science because they are hard to understand.”
On her hobbies: | “I like to read Khmer books and do my homework. I also like to play games and draw pictures.”
On her future: | “I would like to graduate from primary school and continue on to secondary school, but I do not think that I will be able to go to high school because it is very far away and my family is poor. We are only rice farmers. I would like to go to Phnom Penh because I want to work in a garment factory. Or else I would like to be a teacher and develop the country.”

Message for Akiko Okayama: | “I would like to thank Akiko Okayama very much for supporting this school building. I wish her success in her life and projects.” |
