Yeng: I am twenty-three years old. I live right by the school. I am not married, but I sell ice with my sister every day. We’ve sold ice here for one year. It’s a good business.
On the business: | Yet: in one day we can sell shaved ice for 13,000 riel. [US$ 3.25] Each bag of ice costs 100 riel. [2.5 cents]
On the new building: | Yet: I’m very happy with the new school. My child has a nice place to learn now. Before, we never had a school like this.
Yeng: The old building [the pagoda] was made of wood. The roof was made of thatch. When students studied during the rainy season, they couldn’t learn anything. Yet: At the old school, the roof would leak. Now, many more can get an education. |
