Khan Kong Keais a fourth grade student. He is thirteen years old, and ranked third in his class. Both parents are farmers. Out of his two sisters and five brothers, one of his sisters study with him. The two of them have only a ten-minute walk to school.
On the new building: | “I like the new building much better than the old. Now, we have walls separating the classrooms, not like before, where we were practically in the same room.

Favorite subject: | “My favorite subject is Khmer. When I study Khmer, I can read and understand newspapers and books. I can teach myself what I want.”“My least favorite subject is Social Studies. It is very hard to follow.”

What he likes most about school: | “This school is big. It has many children. I like that, because that means more friends.”

Future plans: | “I want to be a teacher. I want the young generation to get as much knowledge as they can.”

If he could do anything: | “Prime Minister”
|
Why? | “Because then I could ask the Finance Minister to give more money to the Education Minister for him to increase the wages of the teachers, so that they can teach better and more regularly.”
